A Voice Worth Saving
After her diagnosis, Debbie started Living with Lemons, a YouTube vlog documenting her experience with ALS. Early on, she recorded herself regularly—not just to share her story, but to capture her natural speaking voice while she still could.
Listen to Debbie introduce her blog, Living with Lemons, before her voice had changed due to ALS:
Through the Impact Program's partnership with the nonprofit organization, Bridging Voice, Debbie was introduced to ElevenLabs as a way to preserve her voice identity. Using samples from Debbie’s vlog, we recreated a voice model that allows her to communicate again—in her own words, in her own voice.

Reclaiming Her Voice
Working with speech-language pathologist Jaime Spencer and supported by the MCH Foundation, the team used our PVC (Professional Voice Clone) technology to build a custom voice that sounds personal, familiar, and recognizably hers.
Now, Debbie types on an eye gaze-controlled device, and anything she writes can be spoken aloud in the voice she built. She uses it to blog, communicate with her care team, and connect with her family—including recording birthday stories for her daughter using her own voice.
Living With Lemons
Despite the physical challenges imposed by ALS, Debbie continues to grow Living with Lemons as a blog to empower and inspire the ALS community. Powered by her ElevenLabs voice clone, she shares stories, reflections, and encouragement that give others both knowledge and hope.
Hear Debbie’s full testimony, delivered in her ElevenLabs Professional Voice Clone:
With the help of Monroe Community Hospital, Bridging Voice, and the ElevenLabs Impact Program, Debbie is able to express herself again—not through a generic synthetic voice, but in one that reflects her identity and the way she has always heard herself.
We’re proud to support this work, and to see how voice AI can restore something deeply human: the ability to be heard in our own voice.
