Scaling access to health information with Turn.io, Anthropic, and WhatsApp

We are partnering with Turn.io to help nonprofits deploy voice-enabled health information services on WhatsApp, expanding access for low-literacy and multilingual populations at scale.

739 million are illiterate; chat, AI, and voice tech aim to provide healthcare access. Logos: turn.io, ENDLESS Health, ElevenLabs, ANTHROPIC.

Access to primary healthcare remains uneven. An estimated 3.5 billion people lack access to essential services, and 739 million adults cannot read or write. Many existing digital health tools depend on text, which limits who can benefit. At the same time, health systems are fragmented, making it difficult for people to find reliable information or navigate services.

In many regions, WhatsApp has already become the default interface for health communication. Organizations use it to share information, guide patients through services, and support follow-up. These systems are working, but they are still constrained by text. Voice is the next step in making access more inclusive.

Why this matters now

AI-powered chat systems are already delivering measurable impact across healthcare programs. The 2025 Turn.io cohort demonstrated that conversational interfaces can improve engagement and access at scale.

What’s missing is accessibility for low-literacy and multilingual populations. Voice enables people to interact naturally, regardless of reading ability. It also improves comprehension in complex or time-sensitive situations.

This shift - from text to voice-enabled interaction - expands who these systems can reach.

Introducing the Turn.io Chat for Health Accelerator 2026

We are partnering with Turn.io to support the Chat for Health Accelerator 2026, a 24-week program designed to help healthcare organizations deploy real services on WhatsApp.

The accelerator will select 10 organizations building solutions focused on health information, navigation, and patient engagement. The program runs from July to December 2026, with applications open now through May 31, 2026.

Turn.io brings a proven platform and distribution network. Their infrastructure powers WhatsApp-based services for organizations including the WHO, UNICEF, and national governments, reaching hundreds of millions of users through a network of nearly 300 organizations.

Our role

We are the lead voice AI technology partner for the accelerator.

Through our Impact Program, we are providing:

  • Voice AI infrastructure, including Text to Speech, Speech to Text, and ElevenLabs Agents
  • $250,000 in shared credits across the cohort
  • Hands-on technical guidance through office hours and implementation support
  • Expertise in voice interface design and deployment
  • Support for low-resource languages and accessibility use cases

This reflects a broader shift in how we support impact. We are moving from one-off credits to structured programs that enable organizations to deploy and scale real-world systems.

What makes this approach different

This is the first time we are supporting an accelerator at this scale with both technical and programmatic involvement.

It combines three elements that are rarely aligned:

  • A distribution-first platform with proven reach
  • Structured support for deployment, not experimentation
  • Integrated voice infrastructure designed for accessibility

Turn.io’s network provides immediate pathways to real users. The accelerator model ensures organizations build production systems, not pilots. Our role is to enable voice as a core interface within those systems.

The focus is not on testing ideas, but on delivering services that people rely on.

What participants receive

Organizations selected for the accelerator will have access to:

  • Turn.io’s WhatsApp infrastructure
  • ElevenLabs voice technology and credits
  • Anthropic credits
  • Mentorship and pathways to additional funding

The goal is straightforward: support organizations in building services that reach real patients, deliver reliable health information, and improve navigation across existing systems.

Extending impact beyond the cohort

While the accelerator will support 10 organizations directly, the broader applicant pool remains important.

Eligible nonprofit applicants will be invited to join the ElevenLabs Impact Program, where they can receive free credits, including 12 months of Pro access.

This ensures more organizations can begin exploring voice-enabled services, even if they are not part of the core cohort. Full program support remains focused on the selected participants.

Apply to the accelerator

Applications for the Turn.io Chat for Health Accelerator 2026 are now open and close on May 31, 2026.
