Speech to Text Terms

Last updated: October 09, 2026

These ElevenLabs Speech to Text Terms (“Speech to Text Terms”) govern your (“you,” “your,” or “Customer”) use of Speech to Text, whether you use it on its own or as a component of another ElevenLabs Service. They supplement your written agreement with ElevenLabs or, if none exists, the ElevenLabs Terms of Service applicable to you (either, the “Underlying ElevenLabs Agreement”), which gives meaning to capitalized terms not defined here. Absent a signed written agreement, you accept these Speech to Text Terms by using Speech to Text.

1. Speech to Text.

1.1. Description. “Speech to Text” is the ElevenLabs Service that allows you to submit audio Input and receive machine-generated transcripts or related text Output through the ElevenLabs dashboard, API, or other interfaces ElevenLabs makes available. Each model, version, or configuration of Speech to Text that ElevenLabs makes available, including every iteration within its version family, is a “Speech to Text Model”.

1.2. Model-Specific Terms. ElevenLabs may issue additional terms for a particular model, version, or configuration made available through Speech to Text (“Model-Specific Terms”), which apply in addition to these Speech to Text Terms as to the model they cover.

1.3. Model Availability. ElevenLabs may add, restrict, suspend, or withdraw particular Speech to Text Models, feature, or capability, and may apply usage limits. ElevenLabs may condition availability on your location, the location of the individuals whose speech is captured, your industry, your plan, your configuration, or on your acceptance of Model-Specific Terms, where reasonably necessary to address a legal, regulatory, or governmental requirement or risk or a third-party provider requirement.

2. Restrictions.

2.1. Prohibited Data. Enabling an Automated Feature does not authorize you to submit any data that the Underlying ElevenLabs Agreement or the Prohibited Use Policy restricts.

2.2. Telecommunication Laws. “Telecommunication Laws” means any law or regulation, as amended and including any successor or equivalent law, governing the recording, interception, or monitoring of, or the initiation, placement, or transmission of, telephone calls, electronic messages, or other voice or electronic communications. You are solely responsible for determining which Telecommunication Laws apply to your use of Speech to Text, and ElevenLabs makes no representation or warranty that Speech to Text, or any configuration of it, complies with or will enable you to comply with any Telecommunication Law.

3. Input.

3.1. Notices and Consents. You are solely responsible for providing all notices and disclosures and for obtaining all consents, releases, and authorizations required by applicable law in connection with the recording, submission, transcription, monitoring, or analysis of Input through Speech to Text, in each case sufficient to permit ElevenLabs, its affiliates, and its service providers to process  that Input and to generate, and you to use, the resulting Output.

3.2. Capture Notices. Where you use Speech to Text to transcribe speech in real time, you shall, before speech is captured, clearly and prominently disclose that speech is being captured and transcribed and that audio and transcripts are processed by ElevenLabs, its affiliates, and its service providers. You may give that disclosure by any means reasonably designed to reach each individual whose speech is captured, including at the outset of the interaction or through the privacy notices you provide to those individuals.

3.3. Consent Records. You shall retain documentation evidencing the notices given and consents obtained under this Section 3 for the longer of the period applicable law requires or five (5) years from the date obtained. On ElevenLabs’ reasonable written request in connection with a claim, complaint, regulatory inquiry, or investigation relating to your use of Speech to Text, you shall provide a copy of, or reasonable access to, that documentation, limited to what is reasonably necessary for that purpose. You may redact information that is not relevant to it, and ElevenLabs will treat the documentation as your Confidential Information.

4. Output and Automated Features.

4.1. Description and Limitations. Speech to Text may include features that automatically identify, classify, tag, or redact certain categories of information within Output (for example, Personal Data or other sensitive information) (“Automated Features”). Automated Features operate on Output and do not delete, alter, or redact the underlying Input. Automated Features may not be accurate, complete, or suitable for your intended use, and ElevenLabs does not warrant that any Automated Feature will achieve any particular level of accuracy or performance or will identify or remove every instance of any category of information.

4.2. Your Responsibilities. You shall determine whether Speech to Text, each Speech to Text Model, and any Automated Feature are appropriate for your intended use, and you are responsible for any Automated Feature you enable or instruct. No Automated Feature relieves you of any legal, regulatory, or compliance obligation.

5. Scribe v2 Realtime.

5.1. Scope. This Section 5 applies to your access to and use of Scribe v2 Realtime, ElevenLabs’ real-time speech recognition model (“Scribe v2 Realtime”), including any update, patch, or sub-version of it, and applies in addition to Sections 1 through 4, which apply to all Speech to Text Models.

5.2. Real-Time Output. Scribe v2 Realtime returns two kinds of Output: (a) partial transcripts, which are interim results that may change as further audio is processed; and (b) committed transcripts, which are returned when a segment is finalized, by you or automatically. Scribe v2 Realtime may predict words and punctuation ahead of the audio it has processed, and its performance depends on your audio capture, network, and application.

6. Updates. ElevenLabs may update these Speech to Text Terms, including any Model-Specific Terms, prospectively. An update that materially reduces your rights takes effect 30 days after ElevenLabs notifies you, and other updates take effect when posted, except that an update required by law or to address a legal, regulatory, safety, or security risk takes effect immediately with prompt notice.
