Tutore Group is an education group uniting language and learning brands across Poland and Spain, including ProfiLingua, eTutor, Lang, Vaughan, and Tutore. The group serves both individual learners and corporate clients through digital platforms, language schools, certified exam centers, and tutoring solutions.
For corporate language training, accurate assessment and placement at the start of each employee's learning journey is critical - incorrect leveling leads to frustration, inefficient use of tutoring hours, and lower return on investment for clients. Tutore used ElevenAgents to automate their spoken assessments, transforming what was previously the most resource-intensive part of their onboarding process.
While written diagnostics at Tutore were already delivered online, the spoken assessment remained reliant on human auditors. This created several operational constraints:
Tutore needed a scalable, multilingual solution that could reduce friction, shorten onboarding time, and improve placement quality while maintaining full alignment with CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), the standard framework for measuring language.
As part of onboarding, students can now choose between a traditional human-led interview or an AI-driven diagnostic call. The majority choose the AI agent, citing convenience, availability, and lower stress.
The diagnostic call runs in two phases. The first phase, conducted in Polish, collects information about the learner's previous experience, motivation, preferences, and objectives. This data forms the foundation for course personalization. The second phase, conducted in the target foreign language, assesses active proficiency against CEFR criteria. The agent evaluates fluency, accuracy, range, coherence, pronunciation, and communicative strategies using consistent scoring rules.
The output is not a formal exam score but a placement recommendation, mapping current ability, learning potential, and declared goals to the optimal course entry level.
90% of all placement interviews are now conducted using ElevenAgents. Tutore has seen significantly shorter onboarding times, elimination of manual coordination and scheduling, reduction in auditor workload and operational costs, and higher consistency in CEFR evaluations. Learners report feeling more comfortable speaking with an AI agent, and each call generates a detailed diagnostic report with strengths, areas for improvement, and learning recommendations.
