Eliane and Alberto: The 1 Million Voices Initiative Expands to Brazil

Eliane and Alberto met in São Paulo in 2024. Since childhood, Eliane has lived with a condition which resulted in the loss of her voice. Alberto went blind at 46, before he met Eliane. Despite the challenges they face, the couple has found their own way to communicate with each other, and even fall in love. Alberto has never known Eliane’s true voice, until now. 

ElevenLabs gave Eliane a voice that carries the likeness of her family. For Eliane that means that, for the first time in her life, she now has a voice that carries her identity to communicate with the person she loves.

Bringing the 1 Million Voices Initiative to Brazil

Eliane and Alberto's story marks the first Brazilian story from the ElevenLabs Impact Program. It comes as we expand our work in Brazil, one of ElevenLabs' highest priority markets.

Through our 1 Million Voices initiative, ElevenLabs has committed $1 billion in-kind to helping people regain or preserve their voices through illness or injury. Since launching the initiative, that commitment has reached over 11,000 people around the world.

Alongside Eliane and Alberto's story, two Brazilian Impact Partners are joining the program, to help us give back 1 Million Voices.

Partners 

Associação Brasileira de Esclerose Lateral Amiotrófica (ABrELA) is Brazil's largest nonprofit supporting people living with ALS, serving up to 10,000 people across the country. Through this partnership, individuals with ALS in Brazil can receive free ElevenLabs access to clone their voices.

We're also working with Sociedade Brasileira de Fonoaudiologia (SBFa), Brazil's national scientific society for Speech-Language Pathology, to train SLPs across the country on ElevenLabs voice cloning. The more confident SLPs feel using ElevenLabs, the more patients that can benefit from our free technology.

Looking Ahead

These partnerships mark the next step in bringing the 1 Million Voices initiative to more individuals in need. As the program grows, we'll continue partnering with local organizations and healthcare professionals around the world, so more people like Eliane have the chance to be heard in their own voice.

Alberto and Eliane have announced that they will marry in November of this year.
