Brazil has always been a country that listens. Stories travel by voice - through radio, through the telenovela, through the friend who retells a book better than the author wrote it. Yet most Brazilian books have never had an audio edition at all. Today, that starts to change.

ElevenReader, our consumer audio platform that transforms written content into listening experiences users love, launches in Brazil. We’re starting with a familiar voice to most Brazilians, Fábio Porchat. You can pick a novel from our catalog, drop in a PDF for work or paste a link to an article and hear it in the famous actor and comedian’s voice.

"There are books we've wanted to read for years, but life keeps going and the time never appears. Now you can listen on the way to work, while tidying the house, or when your eyes are already tired. I'm happy to be part of ElevenReader so that stories reach people in whatever way makes the most sense to them," said Fábio Porchat.

We’ve partnered with Bookwire Brasil to bring 70,000 licensed Brazilian Portuguese titles from the country’s leading publishers into the app. Most of these have no audio edition, and without ElevenReader, never would.

"The question we hear most from Brazil’s publishers is how to bring more of their books into audio as audio grows in popularity across the country. This partnership answers it. Every title in the ElevenReader catalog is licensed from the publisher who owns it, and this is the broadest selection of Brazilian books ever made available in audio," said Marcelio Giola, Managing Director Bookwire Brasil.

Earlier this year, we released The Odyssey narrated by Sir Michael Caine. Listeners have since shown a real appetite for cinematic audio. For the Brazilian market, we wanted to offer a similar and culturally relevant experience. We produced Machado de Assis's Dom Casmurro, narrated by Fábio Porchat, with an original score and sound design built around Bentinho’s slow, unreliable spiral of jealousy.

ElevenLabs exists to make content accessible in any language and any voice. ElevenReader is where that mission reaches listeners directly.

ElevenReader is free on iOS and Android across Brazil. Dom Casmurro is free for all users, and the full licensed catalog is available with ElevenReader Ultra. You can also import your own ebooks, PDFs, articles and documents and listen in any voice, including Porchat's.
