ElevenLabs Agents and the Candidate Experience

ElevenLabs leverages its own AI technology to enhance its talent acquisition process, deploying "AI Becky" and "AI Oscar" to unlock a new level of candidate engagement. This allows our human recruiters to focus on more strategic, in-depth conversations and empowers candidates to feel better prepared and informed. As an AI company, we also encourage applicants to use AI tools for their own research and interview preparation.

Scaling Talent at the Pace of AI

In July 2025, ElevenLabs received over 31,000 job applications. Candidates from all around the world with diverse backgrounds and experiences were sharing their career stories and motivations for joining our team.This overwhelming interest has allowed us to scale talent at the same velocity as we scale our technology. In the first half of 2025, we conducted 3,200 interviews and hired 143 new teammates across 39 countries. And we’re not slowing down - we aim to grow our headcount by 50% each quarter.

But scaling at this pace presents challenges. How do we identify the right person, for the right role, at the right time without compromising on quality, candidate experience, or recruiter focus?

Candidates often have similar questions about our interview process, benefits, remote policy, and company culture. We realised these were questions that could be answered even before the first interview, which would help candidates feel informed and engaged from the start, as well free up time for our recruiters to focus on more meaningful conversations.Here we saw an opportunity to apply our own product to the recruiting funnel itself. And so, AI Becky and AI Oscar were born - digital counterparts modeled after Becky, one of our GTM recruiters, and Oscar, one of our technical recruiters. Built using ElevenLabs, these agents are now an integral part of the interview experience, answering common questions before a candidate’s first live conversation with a recruiter. 

To understand how this could actually help candidates, the real Becky, collaborating with the real Oscar, put this concept out to the public on LinkedIn. They invited candidates, recruiters, and hiring managers to chime in, asking: 

"If you were interviewing at a company like ElevenLabs, what would you want to know before your first call with a recruiter?" 

With this input, we set out to clone the voices and knowledge of our recruiters. Within hours, we had used our own Conversational AI platform to build, voice-clone, and deploy both agents, giving every candidate a scalable, informative, and deeply ElevenLabs-style introduction to our recruiting process.

Every day, these agents go out to dozens of candidates we invite to interview, and the initiative does more than just introduce candidates to our product and platform - it embodies a fundamental value of our company: use AI to creatively solve real problems. 

Interview smarter with AI

We want every person interviewing with us to feel energized, confident, and prepared. So just as we use AI to streamline our internal operations, we encourage candidates to use it to empower your preparation.

In that spirit, here are some specific ideas you can try:

  • Turn AI into your research assistant: Preparing for an interview means understanding the company inside and out. There are a number of AI tools that can become your ultimate research assistant. If you’re interested in joining a company, feed blog posts, news articles, and documents into an AI tool. Elevate your understanding of the company’s recent breakthroughs, think deeply about its strategic direction, and prepare thoughtful questions. 
  • Listen on-the-go: Using the ElevenLabs Reader app, you can convert materials into a personalized podcast. The GenFM co-hosts will summarize the content, so you can even prep on-the-go, during a walk, workout, or commute. 
  • Run a mock interview with an AI agent: Using our Conversational AI product, you can spin up an AI agent to simulate an interview with a recruiter, and give it your resume, the job description, and any other context. Practice answering tailored questions, and get feedback on your structure and response.
