The National Federation of the Blind and the ElevenLabs Impact Program have partnered to bring ElevenReader to blind readers across the United States at no cost. This collaboration marks a major step forward in accessible technology, democratizing access to information and supporting lifelong learning through emotionally rich narration that empowers choice in how stories are heard.
At ElevenLabs, we didn’t invent text-to-speech, we made it human.
Blind individuals have long relied on Braille and screen readers to access written information. ElevenReader doesn’t replace these tools; it adds another way to experience the world through sound.
With lifelike voices that convey emotion and intent, ElevenReader gives users the dignity of choice and a more engaging way to experience books, articles, and news. It's also fully compatible with screen readers.
"Access to information has always been at the heart of our movement, and this partnership with ElevenLabs represents the kind of innovation that happens when we prioritize the authentic needs and preferences of blind people,” said Mark Riccobono, President of the National Federation of the Blind. “ElevenReader gives blind readers real options in how they experience content. The ability to choose from natural-sounding voices, personalize the reading experience, and upload our own materials means we are active participants shaping how we consume information."
NFB members can receive a free, 12-month ElevenReader Ultra license through the ElevenLabs Impact Program.
Together, we’re opening a new world of narration, giving thousands the freedom to choose how they hear, one voice at a time.
