संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने सर्वाइवर गवाही के लिए नैतिक AI दृष्टिकोण की शुरुआत की मेजबानी की

With support from the ElevenLabs Impact Program, Generative AI for Good launched "Hearing Their Voices" at the United Nations in Geneva, helping survivors of conflict-related sexual violence share their stories safely.

Hearing their voices

The event, hosted by Shiran Mlamdovsky-Somech and Tatiana Kotlyarenko and co-organized by UNITAR and the Kigali Genocide Memorial, brought together leaders in policy, technology, and human rights to examine how ethical AI can support peace building and survivor protection.

The goal is to enable survivors of conflict-related sexual violence to share their testimonies safely, using anonymized AI-generated voices that retain tone, clarity, and emotional weight while eliminating the risk of recognition. Through the Impact Program, we provided access to ElevenLabs voice technology to support this initiative at no cost.

Why this Work Matters

Conflict-related sexual violence is not only a personal tragedy but a structural threat to peace, stability, and justice. Survivors often remain silent due to stigma, fear, or direct danger. When testimonies cannot be shared, the international community loses essential evidence that informs prevention, accountability, and long-term recovery.

Hearing Their Voices demonstrates how ethical AI can be applied to strengthen documentation and elevate survivor-led narratives.

The role of the ElevenLabs Impact Program

Our contribution to this initiative aligns with the mission of the ElevenLabs Impact Program, which supports nonprofit organizations advancing public-interest applications across healthcare, education, and culture. We provide in-kind support to help nonprofits build tools that improve communication, preserve identity, and make critical information more accessible.

For Generative AI for Good, this means creating a secure and survivor-centered storytelling pipeline. The focus is on protection: enabling testimony to be heard without exposing individuals to further harm. The technology is designed to preserve meaning, not alter it, ensuring that narratives remain authentic while identities remain safe.

Looking Ahead

As global institutions evaluate how AI should be used in human rights, documentation, and peacebuilding, this work offers a model grounded in ethical practice. The initiative launched today in Geneva shows how responsible AI can support survivors, inform policy, and contribute to long-term stability.
